Pedro Pascal Defends Free Expression at Cannes After Trump Targets Springsteen & Swift
Pedro Pascal has spoken out against Donald Trump’s recent attacks on artists, calling for creatives to resist fear and censorship. At the Cannes Film Festival, the Last of Us star urged, “Fight back. Don’t let them win.”
His comments follow Trump’s social media rants against Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift, whom he criticized for opposing his policies. Pascal, a Chilean immigrant, also shared his fears about rising authoritarianism in the U.S.
The actor stars in Ari Aster’s new film Eddington, alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone. The movie explores political tensions during COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter protests.
Director Aster admitted he fears political backlash could affect filmmakers. “I’m scared of everything,” he said, half-joking.
