Ellen Pompeo Honored With Hollywood Star After 20 Years as Grey’s Anatomy’s Meredith Grey
Ellen Pompeo has cemented her TV legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Grey’s Anatomy lead received the honor after playing Dr. Meredith Grey for 21 seasons and counting.
At Tuesday’s ceremony, Pompeo reflected on Hollywood’s changing landscape. “I hope we can keep traditions like this alive,” she said. The actress also expressed deep gratitude to fans who’ve supported the long-running medical drama.
Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes and co-star Debbie Allen praised Pompeo’s cultural impact. “Millions of young girls entered medicine because of you,” Allen revealed. The show was just renewed for Season 22.
Before becoming TV’s most famous surgeon, Pompeo appeared in Friends, Daredevil, and Catch Me If You Can. She won a 2007 SAG Award with her Grey’s castmates.
Fans can catch Pompeo in Grey’s Anatomy’s season finale May 15 on ABC, with past seasons streaming on Hulu.
