Electronic Arts Restructures Again – Hundreds Laid Off Including Respawn Staff, Titanfall Game Canceled
Electronic Arts (EA) has initiated another round of layoffs, cutting hundreds of positions across the company. The reductions include approximately 100 jobs at Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi games.
This marks EA’s second major restructuring in two years, following a 5% workforce reduction in 2024. The company stated these changes align with long-term strategic priorities and future growth plans.
Notably, Respawn canceled an unannounced Titanfall project and stepped away from two early-stage game developments. The studio confirmed team adjustments for both Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi franchises.
EA is offering affected employees internal transfer opportunities and transition support. The gaming giant currently employs about 13,700 workers worldwide across its California headquarters and international offices.
These cuts continue a troubling trend in the gaming industry, with multiple major publishers reducing staff in recent months.
