Golden State Prepares for Game 2 Without Stephen Curry After MRI Reveals Hamstring Issue
The Golden State Warriors may face Game 2 without Stephen Curry after their star guard suffered a left hamstring strain during Tuesday’s 99-88 win over Minnesota. Curry will undergo an MRI Wednesday to determine the severity.
Curry exited in the second quarter after scoring 13 points in 13 minutes. Head coach Steve Kerr said the team will prepare as if Curry won’t play Thursday, noting “it’s hard to imagine” a quick return with hamstring injuries.
Despite Curry‘s absence, the Warriors extended their lead behind Draymond Green’s 18 points and lockdown defense on Anthony Edwards. Jimmy Butler added 20 points while Buddy Hield continued his hot streak with 24 points off the bench.
Teammates remain hopeful but prepared if Curry misses time. “We won’t panic,” Green said. “Jimmy’s capable of carrying a team.” The Warriors face a quick turnaround with just one day between Games 1-5 in this second-round series.
Curry, already playing through a thumb injury, averaged 24 points in Golden State’s first-round victory over Houston. His potential absence would test the Warriors’ depth against the Timberwolves’ top-ranked defense.
