Weezer’s secret movie project just landed another A-lister! Rivers Cuomo confirmed Jack Black has joined the cast, sharing an AI-generated poster on the band’s Discord. The film, teased at Coachella, blends music and comedy in a mockumentary style akin to Scott Pilgrim and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.
Black’s involvement makes perfect sense—he toured with Weezer in 2001 with Tenacious D, and his wife, Tanya Haden, collaborated with the band in 2003. The star-packed cast also includes Keanu Reeves as the villain, Eric Andre, Juliette Lewis, and Johnny Knoxville.
Directed by Paranormal Activity’s Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, the film follows Weezer’s offbeat legacy. It’s the latest rock-band movie trend, joining Green Day’s New Years Rev and Pavement’s upcoming Pavements.
