Kieran Culkin is taking over as Caesar Flickerman in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The Oscar winner replaces Stanley Tucci, who played the charismatic Games host in the original films.
The prequel, set 24 years before Katniss Everdeen’s story, follows a young Haymitch Abernathy (Joseph Zada) during the deadly 50th Hunger Games. The star-studded cast includes Jesse Plemons, Maya Hawke, Elle Fanning, and Ralph Fiennes.
Culkin’s casting has excited fans, with producers praising his “magnetism and wit” as perfect for the role. The Succession star recently won an Oscar for A Real Pain and an Emmy for his role as Roman Roy.
Sunrise on the Reaping broke records, selling 1.5 million copies in its first week. The film adaptation, directed by Francis Lawrence, releases November 20, 2026.
