League of Legends World Champion Maciej ‘Shushei’ Ratuszniak Remembered as Esports Icon
The esports community lost a true legend this week. Maciej “Shushei” Ratuszniak, the Season 1 League of Legends World Champion, passed away at 36 after battling cancer.
Shushei made history as Fnatic’s star player during their 2011 championship run. He became the first MVP in LoL esports history and earned a permanent legacy through the Fnatic Gragas skin.
Beyond his world championship, Shushei won multiple Intel Extreme Masters tournaments. His creative playstyle and personality made him a fan favorite during LoL’s early competitive days.
Fnatic and the esports community shared heartfelt tributes. “We lost a legend,” the organization posted. Fellow pros remembered him as “one of the first greats” of competitive League.
