The classic FPS sees a massive resurgence after years of decline, possibly fueled by Fortnite’s Star Wars crossover event.
Star Wars Battlefront II is making an unexpected comeback. The EA-published FPS has seen its player count triple in May 2025, reaching nearly 8,000 concurrent players—its highest numbers in four years.
The sudden spike coincides with Fortnite’s Star Wars-themed Galactic Battle season, which launched on May 2. Many fans speculate that Fortnite’s crossover reignited interest in a more authentic Star Wars shooter experience.
Battlefront II also benefited from a major update adding new maps like Scarif and a 60% discount in early May. With Fortnite’s event ending soon, even more players may migrate to the classic title.
If the trend continues, Battlefront II could soon surpass its all-time peak of 10,489 players. Will EA capitalize on this resurgence?
